Nuke Your Microwave Oven!
from Plastic Industry Today
(2010/3/9 1:25)
|
Toss the microwave ovens - the sooner the better! I would imagine that most of us have seen warnings about using microwave ovens for some time. The first ones I recall were way back in the radical seventies, when I learned that our standards for allowable microwaves were 's of times less stringent than the world leading authorities in microwaves - the Soviet Union the same folks that constantly bombarded our embassy in Moscow with microwaves. I also read reports that the incidence of cataracts among microwave users was alarmingly high - especially those that stood close to the microwave while it was in operation. And what made the cataracts really stand out was that they were "anterior cataracts" which formed further within the eye than normal cataracts which formed near the lens surface. Hard to miss the connection with microwave ovens, which cook food from the inside out.I recall seeing a Dr. Edward Fujimoto manager of the Wellness Program at the Castle hospital on a TV pro ...

All the processes of refilling old ink cartridges and selling them back to the public as refurbished have collectively come to be called ink cartridge recycling. These processes are important in that they prevent environmental and health damage done by the disposal of ink cartridges in the garbage as well as save enormous amounts of money spent on preparation of new cartridges. By sad chance, at this time less than ink cartridge material is being recycled. For this reason, ink cartridge recycling is being emphasized and many recycling companies offer up to ten dollars for recycling an empty ink cartridge. Why Recycle Ink Cartridges?Health, environment, and sustainability all demand the recycling of empty ink cartridges. Some of the important facts and statistics that speak for recycling cartridges are listed here.Disposing ink cartridges into garbage can cause great harm to environment and miniature life. Matthew Pruitt is the owner of NuVision, a boutique medical spa in Manhattan that offers a range of laser-based procedures including Lasik to BOTOX and skin rejuvenation. Here he explains which technologies have been proven to help with scar reduction. When patients visit NuVision asking about scar reduction technologies, we find that the most common request of that nature is actually for stretch marks. And then the second most common would be for the treatment of acne. These are typically the folks who have tried over-the-counter creams meant to diminish the appearance of scars, and other types of things, and just have not gotten the kinds of results that they wanted. When they come to us, they are looking for a treatment that is going to be a little more advanced, from the aspect of technology, and a laser treatment that is actually going to deliver tangible results. Two types of treatments work well for scar reduction: Affirm Laser Treatment The Affirm laser that we use for acne tre ...

from Plastic Industry Today
(2010/3/6 1:34)

The Burial Vault is an Important Part of Funeral Pre-Planning. You hear a lot about caskets also called 'coffins' and about howmuch protection they provide your loved one after burial. Younever really stop to think about what actually is the mostimportant part of the burial ' the burial vault or grave liner. Consider this. The casket is generally made out of wood, steel, fiberglass or plastic and in most cases the only protectionagainst rust or water penetration is found in the gasket orseal. So, for protection considerations, wouldn't it make moresince to concentrate on the outer container itself since it hasto provide the maximum protection possible?Burial vaults or grave liners are protective outer containersfor the casket and were developed as a means to prevent theground from sinking as the casket deteriorates. For this reason, most cemeteries today require vaults or liners for the casket tobe placed in upon burial.Concrete vaults, which are made with a reinforced ...

Two Roles of Marketing: Empowered Communicator and Demand Generator
from Plastic Industry Today
(2010/3/4 0:11)
|
Like many complex subjects, it is difficult to find a consensus definition of marketing. For the purposes of this article, I define marketing as: any activity involved in the facilitation of the sale of a good or service, excluding but constantly feeding information back into the actual production of the good or the performance of the service itself. As a field, marketing has become increasingly sophisticated and powerful in recent decades. Indeed, it has become not only an art but a mathematically-based, research-driven social science funded by billions of corporate, governmental, and nonprofit dollars each year.Marketing seems to have two faces in the eyes of the public-at-large. Some view it as a manipulative practice designed to lure people into buying things they do not need and contributing to environmental decline by encouraging consumerism. The advent of junk mail, disruptive telemarketing practices, spam, and online pop-up browser windows indeed contribute to an unfavorable...

from Plastic Industry Today
(2010/3/1 1:59)

Recycling is now part of nearly everybody's life. 'Taking out the trash' now involves more than just dumping a black bag out the front for the dustman or garbage collector to pick up. Recycling is now not just an ethical past time but in many areas is also a legal civic duty, with fines and sanctions often given to residents who fail to recycle properly. Fortunately there is a huge a range of recycling bins available that make the task a lot easier and allows you to easily transport your recyclables to the curbside. <a rel"nofollow" onClick"javascript:pageTracker.trackPageview'outgoingarticleexitlink';" href"http:www.greenstamp.co.ukproductinfo.phpcPathproductsid">Recycling bins<a> come in all shapes and sizes but most are based on the same principle ' that the bins are divided into several compartments for the different recycling materials. The invention relates to a device forspraying-on of especially plastic Mould, wherein at least one mould cavity to be filled, constructed in a tool is arranged laterally next to a central nozzle body, with at least one nozzle tip arranged in andor on the nozzle body which projectsoutwards over the circumferential surface of the nozzle body and forms an injection channel for the mould cavity in a recess of the tool andor the nozzle body, according to the preamble of claim . In known devices of this type, the nozzle tips are fixed in the nozzle body before assembling the tool, generally screwed in. In order to then make it possible to assemble the tool, the tool, that is, the element in which the mould cavities to befilled are arranged, must be segmented and dismountable according to the number of nozzles and mould cavities. This requires, on the one hand, a comparatively high constructive effort and on the other hand, the assembly of the tool is complex andtime-consuming and thereby ...

Meatism: Earth Enemy Number One
from Plastic Industry Today

We all know that our planet is in serious trouble. The fact that you really care is great, so take this one-question test to find out if you are a true environmentalist: So what did you have for dinner last night? Not to worry, I'm not trying to get chummy, it's just that one simple question is actually the whole test. Yep, that's right. What you had for dinner last night is the determining factor on whether or not you are a true environmentalist. By far, the number one cause of our environmental problems is meat and dairy. Meat is the cause of the destruction of the rain forests. Some people think that rain forests are being cut down so that we can reap the lumber, and also to make paper products such as toilet paper from the trees. While lumber and paper can be byproducts from the trees, you must remember that they are just that -byproducts. The main product, and the real reason for cutting down the forests, is to create more land that we can use to raise animals headed for human ...
